Chilliwacked - Chilliwack Cultural Centre
Have you ever seen a murder mystery show? How about an improvised murder mystery show? On October 30, the Chilliwack Cultural Centre will get Chilliwackedwhen Washington’s Upfront Improv Theatre brings their thrilling show to town for an evening that celebrates the spooky season with Halloween hilarity!
Three townsfolk will die, and one will emerge as the killer! The performers draw a character out of a hat, which members of the audience have put together, and then they will introduce their characters. Then and only then do they find out what role they’ll be playing in the show as they draw a card to decide who will be the murderer and who will get murdered. Together, the actors work to create conflict and believable scenes to create a cohesive story, while only knowing their own individual role.
Established in Bellingham, Washington by world-renowned improviser Ryan Stiles in 2004, The Upfront Theatre has become known for their exceptionally innovative and high-quality performances. Their actors have performed and taught at festivals and events all over North America including: The Chicago Improv Festival, The Vancouver International Festival, Seattle International Festival, the Vancouver TheatreSports Throwdown and many more; as well as winning the Mayor’s Art Award and being voted “Best Theatre” and “Best Live Comedy”. Chilliwacked is a retitled version of Upfront Theatre’s popular show, Hellingham, a show that has become a staple to Bellingham’s Halloween celebration.
For those of you who’ve always avoided improv out of dread of being pulled up on stage, you have nothing to fear! Settle in for an evening of laughter as you try to work out “Who did it?” with this a fun fan favourite.
