Chilliwack Conscious Dance
Come join us for an evening of dance, movement, and great music! From beginners to seasoned dancers, all are welcome.
When: Wed Mar 11th
What is conscious dance?
Conscious dance is about authentic movement and expression, getting out of our minds and following whatever movements or gestures our bodies want to do. There is no technique, no choreography, and no right or wrong moves. It is a practive of attuning to our bodies in the present moment to the music. This way of moving and dancing provides opportunities to release stress, increase self-connection & creativity, move through emotions, and experience joy and lots of fun. This event is for people who want to move their bodies to music with others, in a judgement free and substance free zone.
What to expect:
- The event runs from 7-8:30pm.
- Doors open at 6:50pm and close at 7:15pm. Please do not arrive after 7:15pm.
- You will be greeted at the entrance to the dance hall with a quick orientation, and you can ask any final questions before entering.
- The music will last for approximately 80 minutes. It will start gently, build up to a peak tempo and intensity, and wind down to a gentle finish. There will be no instruction or guidance. Some people like to end in shavasana like in yoga class, resting on your back in relaxation. For 80 minutes, you are free to move or not move however you like as long as you are mindful of others.
We will move and dance to many styles of music. From classical and pop, to world music and electronica, to funk and disco, the music is thoughtfully chosen to support a variety of ways to dance and discover fun and creative expressions of movement.
- For the final 10 minutes, there will be a closing circle for those who wish to share about their experience.
*Please refrain from talking with others once you enter the dance floor and for the duration of the music.
*Please do not engage in intentional physical contact or any partnered dance with others unless you know them well and have their clear consent to do so. This is not an event to 'pick up.'
*You are welcome to rest, stretch, and/or meditate at the side of the room (and often people do!), but please support a safe space by keeping your attention mainly to yourself.
*No outside shoes on the dance floor. Barefeet, socks, and indoor shoes welcome.
A portion of the proceeds will go to a charity each month.
If you have any questions, please email Eric at eric@roadtocompassion.com or Elisa at elisa.naturework@gmail.com.
We hope to see you on the dance floor!

Vividus - Chilliwack Cultural Centre
Full of vitality, imagination, and breathtaking athleticism, Vividus: Full of Life leaps onto the stage with a dynamic program showcasing the bold brilliance of Ballet Kelowna. On March 28, Vividus: Full of Life features three standout works from the company’s celebrated contemporary repertoire, this electrifying evening of dance highlights the visionary voices of Canada’s leading choreographers.
Anchoring the program is Vestiges by award-winning choreographer Alysa Pires. A striking meditation on the search for true connection and meaning amid life’s chaos, the work is set to the cinematic soundscape of violinist Hilary Hahn and composer Hauschka. With bold, intricate movement and sweeping musicality, Vestiges showcases the extraordinary versatility and technical prowess of Ballet Kelowna’s dancers.
In contrast, The Forever Part by Kirsten Wicklund offers an ethereal and introspective exploration of longing and permanence. Inspired by daydreams and the tension between desire and restriction, this poignant ensemble work blends rhythmic group passages with stirring duets, creating a moving reflection on yearning, anxiety, and the complexities of forever.
Rounding out the evening, former Principal Dancer and Choreographic Associate with The National Ballet of Canada, Guillaume Côté, brings fresh imagination to Le Carnaval des Animaux by Camille Saint-Saëns. This playful reimagining of one of the composer’s most beloved works bursts with whimsical detail and exuberant energy. With frolicking movement and inventive contemporary flair, the piece pushes the boundaries of ballet while delighting audiences of all ages.

Larkk - Chilliwack Cultural Centre
Step into an unforgettable evening of poetic music with Larkk, the evocative solo project of Danielle McTaggart, best known as the unforgettable voice behind JUNO Award–winning duo Dear Rouge. Larkk marks a bold new creative chapter for one of Canada’s most compelling vocalists.
McTaggart has earned widespread acclaim throughout her career, including Western Canadian Music Awards for Pop Artist and Songwriter of the Year, along with numerous national accolades. With Larkk, she turns inward— trading indie-rock power for an atmospheric, emotionally raw sound rooted in vulnerability and poetic storytelling.
“This show I’ve crafted means so much to me,” says Danielle McTaggart. “It is my heart, laid bare—and it is meant for you. Every part of it was created with you in mind. You are deeply cared for and so beloved. My hope is that you’ll come and leave feeling lighter, with a renewed awareness of the connectedness we all share.”
The genesis of Larkk began in 2020, when McTaggart discovered the surreal and aching poetry of American writer Derrick Brown. Drawn to the tension in his work, she reached out, and the two began collaborating remotely from Los Angeles and just outside Vancouver, BC. Brown, known for touring with David Cross, Cold War Kids, The Afghan Whigs, Helio Sequence, Rival Sons, and Eugene Mirman, recognized a deep longing in McTaggart’s voice that perfectly matched the sorrowful beauty of the songs they imagined together. From this creative partnership, Larkk was born.
Larkk’s debut EP, Cinders, transforms intimate poems into whispered, emotionally rich songs. The project features production by Thomas D’Arcy (July Talk, Yukon Blonde, NOBRO, The Sheepdogs) and contributions from Dani Nash (Andy Shauf, Field Guide), Drew Jurecka (Dua Lipa), and more. Together, they crafted what feels like a gorgeous elegy to doubt, isolation, and the quiet weight of modern life, blending cinematic indie, alt-pop, and ethereal electronic textures.
Live, Larkk offers an immersive and deeply moving experience, drawing listeners into a sonic world that will resonate with fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Patrick Watson, St. Vincent, Big Thief, and Weyes Blood. This is music that lingers—soft, expansive, and emotionally resonant.
Larkk is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on March 5, 2026 at 7:30. Tickets start at $40, with membership program discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
Josephine - Chilliwack Cultural Centre
“I can be good to you, really good to you, for one night,” Josephine Baker croons from the stage, luring you in with a charisma few can deny. On March 4, a cabaret dream play will transport you into the life of Josephine, the first African-American international superstar and one of the most remarkable figures of the 20th century.
Combining cabaret, theatre, and dance to tell the story of the iconic performer, Dynamite Lunchbox Production brings this one-woman biographical musical to life! Josephine is a beautiful story of history and civil rights wrapped in sultry singing. Tymisha Harris in the role of Josephine shifts smoothly from laughter to tears and back again, while she shatters stereotypes of race, gender roles, and sexuality.
“I hope that the audience is wildly entertained by the music and dancing and that they learn something new about the life of one of the most fascinating human beings of the 20th century.” Co-creator and actress Tymisha Harris says.
Enhancing the evening’s festivities, you are invited to arrive early for a pre-show swing dance workshop from 6:30 to 7:15 pm, setting the tone for the era and the energy of the performance. Following the show, keep the night alive at a post-show speakeasy soirée from 9:00 to 10:30 pm, where the glamour and spirit of Josephine Baker’s world continue.
Josephine is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on March 4, 2026 at 7:30. Tickets start at $29, with membership program discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).

No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial
Join us for a screening of the documentary No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial. Further details and registration for your free ticket are available at whitecart.ca.
The screening will be held at The’í:tselíya – Health & Community Centre in Chilliwack, BC, on February 26 from 1–3:30 p.m., with a panel discussion on grief and homelessness following the film.
No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial is a powerful and intimate documentary that sheds light on a deeply overlooked aspect of the homelessness crisis: people’s grief following the death of someone they care about. Through the voices and stories of individuals living with unstable housing in Kelowna, the film explores what it means to grieve without a house, and how loss echoes through a community already struggling to survive.
Centred around the creation and meaning of the White Cart Memorial — a grassroots, mobile tribute to unhoused lives lost — the film weaves together research, personal lived experience testimonies, community organization reflections, and future action plans for the city of Kelowna. This film captures the emotional and logistical challenges of grieving in public spaces.
Dedicated to the memories of all unhoused lives lost — and those who carry their grief forward — No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial urges us to rethink how we hold space for mourning in public, and how we can come together to build more compassionate, inclusive systems of care. Because only through community can we create safer places to grieve, to heal, and to remember.
Circle & Soul
Circle + Soul is a sacred space to pause, reconnect, and return to yourself. Each gathering invites you into meaningful connection—with your inner world and with other women—through shared presence, reflection, and intentional practice.
Every month we will hold our women's circle, offering fresh perspectives, journaling, guided meditation and oracle card reflection. The second part of the evening will rotate through some of the most gifted local practitioners. February we will be joined by Melissa Credle as she leads the group through her transformative sound bath and if time allows- tarot. These sessions are designed to help you release what feels heavy, reset your nervous system, and expand into greater clarity, ease, and alignment.
This is not a space to fix or force change, but to listen, soften, and remember who you are beneath the noise of everyday life. Together, we create a rhythm of grounding and renewal—an opportunity to be witnessed, inspired, and nourished as you continue your own unfolding.
Come as you are. Leave feeling more connected, spacious, and rooted in yourself.

Hear The Voice of Ukraine
On February 21, residents of the Fraser Valley will gather in Central Community Park for Hear the Voice of Ukraine — a public community event marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
As the war enters its fourth year, civilians continue to be killed, families displaced, and communities torn apart. Organizers say the event is not only about remembrance, but about ensuring Ukrainian voices are heard — locally and nationally.
The gathering will bring together community members, faith leaders, municipal representatives, humanitarian volunteers, and members of the Ukrainian diaspora for a moment of silence, interfaith prayer, and personal testimony about the ongoing human impact of the war.
“Four years into the full-scale invasion, this war is not history — it is lived reality,” say Iryna Kobets, one of the organizers. “This event creates space for truth, remembrance, and solidarity, and for Canadians to hear directly from those affected.”
