Larkk - Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Step into an unforgettable evening of poetic music with Larkk, the evocative solo project of Danielle McTaggart, best known as the unforgettable voice behind JUNO Award–winning duo Dear Rouge. Larkk marks a bold new creative chapter for one of Canada’s most compelling vocalists.

McTaggart has earned widespread acclaim throughout her career, including Western Canadian Music Awards for Pop Artist and Songwriter of the Year, along with numerous national accolades. With Larkk, she turns inward— trading indie-rock power for an atmospheric, emotionally raw sound rooted in vulnerability and poetic storytelling.

“This show I’ve crafted means so much to me,” says Danielle McTaggart. “It is my heart, laid bare—and it is meant for you. Every part of it was created with you in mind. You are deeply cared for and so beloved. My hope is that you’ll come and leave feeling lighter, with a renewed awareness of the connectedness we all share.”

The genesis of Larkk began in 2020, when McTaggart discovered the surreal and aching poetry of American writer Derrick Brown. Drawn to the tension in his work, she reached out, and the two began collaborating remotely from Los Angeles and just outside Vancouver, BC. Brown, known for touring with David Cross, Cold War Kids, The Afghan Whigs, Helio Sequence, Rival Sons, and Eugene Mirman, recognized a deep longing in McTaggart’s voice that perfectly matched the sorrowful beauty of the songs they imagined together. From this creative partnership, Larkk was born.

Larkk’s debut EP, Cinders, transforms intimate poems into whispered, emotionally rich songs. The project features production by Thomas D’Arcy (July Talk, Yukon Blonde, NOBRO, The Sheepdogs) and contributions from Dani Nash (Andy Shauf, Field Guide), Drew Jurecka (Dua Lipa), and more. Together, they crafted what feels like a gorgeous elegy to doubt, isolation, and the quiet weight of modern life, blending cinematic indie, alt-pop, and ethereal electronic textures.

Live, Larkk offers an immersive and deeply moving experience, drawing listeners into a sonic world that will resonate with fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Patrick Watson, St. Vincent, Big Thief, and Weyes Blood. This is music that lingers—soft, expansive, and emotionally resonant.

Larkk is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on March 5, 2026 at 7:30. Tickets start at $40, with membership program discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
