Launch Stories - June 2025

Shelby Moreau, from Fountain Tire Chilliwack, will be our guest for this month's fireside chat.

Shelby found his passion for cars early. In 2010, he founded Dark Lotus with a group of buddies and offered up his garage to work on their daily driven rear-wheel drive Nissans. They were constantly racing around on deserted streets on late rainy nights learning the art of drifting! Since then, Shelby relocated from Vancouver to Chilliwack and the group has evolved into an official pro-am team that's very involved in the local drift racing scene at the Agassiz Speedway and the Mission Raceway Park.

To afford this expensive sport – including buying and selling more than 140 cars and thousands of tires – Shelby has worked in the auto industry for the past two decades. He started doing basic shop work at Fountain Tire and has moved through the ranks, working the counter to assistant manager and now he's the manager and co-owner of the Chilliwack store. We will explore Shelby's leadership and entrepreneurial journey and lessons learned along the way.

Launch Stories is a monthly event that features a fireside chat with business founders and experts. The goal of these get togethers is to share advice and inspiration for early entrepreneurs and to connect and build a local startup ecosystem.
