Wintersong - Chilliwack Cultural Centre
Melt away the chill of dreary days with the warmth of a spectacular morning concert showcasing the winter season, as tenor Benjamin Butterfield joins the dynamic Bergmann Duo on December 6 for Wintersong. Sure to be a concert full of energy and intensity, this delightful performance is an inspiring way to start the weekend.
From Schubert’s seminal song cycle Winter Journey to songs by Charles Ives and Arnold Bax, Wintersong will weave together a truly magical experience. With his resonant tone and enthralling presence, Butterfield will also present a selection of favourite Randy Newman songs that will round the program out.
Praised by The New York Times as “clarion-voiced and vibrant”, Butterfield is known for his performances throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has performed with many of the world’s leading conductors and has also made multiple appearances with the Baltimore, Nashville, Houston, St. Louis and Vancouver Symphonies.
With the intimate ambience of The Centre’s morning concert series, the Wintersong audience can expect a musical experience like no other. For the Bergmann’s, the format creates both a special atmosphere and an exciting opportunity to return and catch up with an audience they have come to know well. “It’s been great to develop a relationship with the audience in Chilliwack for the past couple of seasons. It’s been so neat to see new audience members coming and we love the responses we always get from them. Everyone seems to be happy with the programming and the variety, so it’s just a real joy to share that. We love the venue, the treats and the coffee, and the conversations we get to have with the people who come to see us perform.”
