3 Spots in Chilliwack that are Even Better in the Off-Season

Chilliwack has so much to offer, even once the tourists have all gone home. Check out 3 of our favourite spots to enjoy the shoulder season.

We all know that Chilliwack becomes one of the Lower Mainland’s busiest nature playgrounds during the summer months… but what happens when August comes to a close and all the tourists leave?

Smoky October Day on Cultus Lake

1. Cultus Lake

Come the cooler days of autumn, you will begin to see a much slower pace of life out here. Locals are still playing out on Cultus Lake - but in a different way.

Gone are the wake boats, choppy waves, and music playing from speakers.

Instead, you will find calm waters, rising trout, and the gentle sound of paddles breaking the surface.

Trees changing colour on Vedder Mountain. Taken from across the river on the Vedder Rotary Trail.

2. Vedder Rotary Trail

The Vedder Rotary Trail is much the same, but feels very different.

River swimmers and adventurous tubers have been replaced by fishing waders and casted lines.

Parents still push strollers along the gravel paths, now enjoying their cup of hot Amble coffee between school drop-off and little ones’ naps.

The sun isn’t so scorching, and the leaves are beginning to turn. It makes for a perfect way to spend a morning.

Brick Buildings in Downtown Chilliwack, District 1881

3. Downtown Chilliwack

Finally, the Downtown Core rounds out our top three list.

The brick character buildings, the welcoming coffee shops, and vibrant murals all have our hearts in the fall.

Swing by Harvest Café for a delicious donut, or Smoking Gun for a great cup of coffee. Peruse the shops in District 1881. Walk the isles of the Bookman to find yourself lost in a new book, before making your way down to Mill Street where you will find even more to explore.

Downtown Chilliwack in the Fall is like stepping into a Hallmark Movie - quite literally (many of them are filmed here)!
