War Canoe Races

The countdown is on! We are excited to welcome paddlers, families, volunteers, and spectators to our village site Swílhcha (also known as Main Beach, Cultus Lake) for a weekend of friendly competition, community connection, and Coast Salish canoe racing traditions.

Join us for youth races on Friday evening, followed by a full weekend of racing featuring singles, doubles, six-man, and eleven-man canoes. We'll also have food vendors, arts & crafts vendors, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with friends and relatives from near and far. Important Parking & Access Reminder

Parking is $25 per vehicle for the weekend.

As in previous years, only RVs, trailers, 11-man canoes, and 6-man canoes will be permitted beyond the lower gate, starting at 11am Friday morning. All other vehicles must remain in the designated parking areas Lot A or Lot B.

We strongly encourage all clubs to make a plan in advance regarding which RVs will accompany your big canoes into the race site and which vehicles will remain parked in Lot A on Lakeshore Drive. The war canoe circuit continues to evolve, and club caravans have grown significantly in size over the years. While the park has generously accommodated our gathering for decades, the number of RVs, trailers, and support vehicles attending each event has increased substantially, making advance planning and cooperation more important than ever.

Our staff and volunteers will be on-site to direct traffic and assist where needed, but please come prepared:

Bring wagons, carts, or dollies if you have them.

Bring extra helping hands and strong arms.

Be prepared to transport gear, tents, and supplies from the parking lots to your camping or race area.

We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to keep this event safe, organized, and enjoyable for all.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Cultus Lake for another incredible weekend of racing, friendship, and community.
